Highlight Matches (And Mutual Matches) In Search Results And Profile Pages

On Mar 19, 2020 we released a site update to use heart icons to highlight those that are a high potential match for you, based on the criteria you specify on the Who I'm Looking For page. While the Profiles That May Interest You Mailing sends you mutual matches (i.e. where the other person matches your search AND you match their search) on primary criteria, prior to this update, there was no way to see who was a mutual match with you on the site itself. With this update, the match percentages now shown on the site take into account ALL criteria you specify on the Who I'm Looking For page, giving you a better sense of how much the person is a complete match for you.

Where Can I Expect To See These New Icons?

When you are logged-in, if the profile you are viewing is a 70% or higher match for you, these heart icons will now appear in search result listings and profile pages. You can view the percentage match by tapping the icon (on mobile) or hovering your cursor above it (on desktop).

You will see two hearts side-by-side when you are a mutual match with someone. A mutual match means you are looking for what the other person is AND the other person is looking for what you are. A mutual match is preferred over a 1-way match.

When there is only a 1-way match (meaning the profile you are viewing is a high-match to your criteria, but not necessarily the other way around) you will see a single heart and match percentage as shown below in search results:

While a mutual match is preferable, we felt it was still good to highlight strong matches from your perspective. If you reach out to such a person, you may find they are more flexible on their match criteria than they originally thought.
