See Timestamps On Smiles

On May 20, 2019 we adjusted the way smiles are stored in our system to include a timestamp. This was a top user request - to know exactly when a smile came in. Prior to this change, all smiles from other members were credited on the day of the first smile from that member.

How Did The Smiles List Page Work Before?

Here is how the smile list page looked prior to this change:

All smiles were credited to the day of the original smile and you were unable to see exactly when a smile came in.

Links under the "My dharmaMatch" module in the left rail also did not work at all.

How Does The Smiles List Page Work Now?

Our goal was to bring new functionality to this page while maintaining its current look & feel.

The new smile list page looks like this:

Now smiles are listed from newest to oldest and the date shown reflects the date of the latest smile from/to that other member - so your most recent smiles are always at the top.

We also made the number of smiles clickable so you can click to see exactly when the smiles came in, with most recent at top. All timestamps are in the timezone specified for your account under Account Settings.

You may see timestamps for older smiles repeated. This is expected. It just means we had no unique timestamps for smiles after the first one - so, the best we could do was repeat the timestamp of the first one. We know you received or sent that number of smiles but all we had was the timestamp of the original smile. With this change to how smiles are stored in our system, we now record (and make available to you) the exact timestamp when the smile was sent or received.

We also removed the non-functioning "My dharmaMatch" module from the left rail.

Are There Any Other Benefits Of This Change?

Now that we have an exact timestamp for a smile we are also better able to control the number of new smile email notifications that are sent out. We now only send out an email notification of a new smile from one member to another once in an 8-hour period. This gives the recipient a chance to see and respond to the smile before more come in from the same user. A smile recipient still has the ability to block the smile sender with 1-click from the new smile email if the attention is unwanted.

How Can I Send You Feedback On This Functionality?

Please use this email address to give us feedback on this new functionality or anything else about the dharmaMatch.com experience that you would like to see changed. Please include your member screen name in your message to us if you are experiencing difficulty with the site so we can lookup your record and see what's happening. While we cannot guarantee it will happen every time, many of the suggestions from our members do end up becoming features/changes on the site. We want to hear from you!

Namaste,
The dharmaMatch Product Team
