I am a: 59-year-old Man (Single)
Located in: Lakewood, OH (USA)
Seeking a: Woman (20 to 60)
For: Friendship, Dating, Serious Relationship
Spirituality: Buddhist, Hindu, Jewish

About Me
Raised Jewish, with a Hindu guru, I practice Vipassana. I have written and published poetry, and work with folks experiencing mental health challenges. I am a "peer supporter", which, if you look that up, or just infer it, means that I also struggle with mental health issues. I have been in a good place for the past 15 years or so, well enough to work and help others. I am seeking a partner who shares similar spiritual beliefs (not necessarily practices), and who enjoys poetry, art and music as much as I do. I love to go to low-key concerts, art galleries and poetry readings. I am not a vegetarian, but have been in the past, and may be again. (lol). I hope you are having a great day. If interested, please ask of me what you would like!

Coffeeshop surfer, I read psychology, Buddhist teachers, Hindu teachers, and novels -- from John Irving to J.K.Rowling. (I read fiction on the light side). I attend poetry readings and small music performances, usually singer-songwriters and jazz. My time for stadium rock is long since past -- I like to be able to tip or thank the performers personally, and talk for a spell. Walking in the Metroparks -- biking.
Personality
My Personality:
Creative, Caring, Intelligent

The quiet one
What makes me laugh hardest:
Arrested Development
I'm happiest when:
I'm alone, reading or tidying my apartment with some music on, OR, with very close friends.
The things that annoy me are:
Myself when I'm at my worst.
The best day of my life was when:
I broke the ice with my high school girlfriend. It was while we were in China on a trip with a choir (I was in the band).
If I could have dinner with any three people, they would be:
George Harrison (he's my idol and ideal musician), Gandhi (his approach to making peace was groundbreaking), Sarada Devi (in my eyes, she was the personification of the female aspect of God, but also of compassion and love).

I consider my spirituality...
The central focus of my life
What brought me to my spiritual path and motivated my interest...
Truthfully -- having a peak experience while smoking dope as a high school grad. I read some Ram Dass and found out I was not hallucinating -- shortly afterward went to college, found a teacher and got serious -- too serious -- about enlightenment. Started as a spiritual materialist. (Dropped marijuana and many other things). Time has tempered my search. I am laid back about practice, but am intent about treating people well and improving myself.
I consider the purpose of my spirituality to be...
Connecting to something greater than myself, Finding happiness and peace within, Helping me cope with the struggles of life, Building a personal relationship with God, Instilling morality and virtues, Belonging to a like-minded community, Helping me grow as a person, Other
After the body dies...
The soul reincarnates until achieving Liberation
I would define a spiritual experience as...
I might say, a spiritual experience is whatever one is going through. It's "The Only Dance There Is"! lol. No, really, for me, it is seeing beyond thoughts to the inherent, perfect Self.
A spiritual experience I would like to share...
Laughter.
The spiritual books and authors that have had the greatest impact on me...
Wherever You Go, There You Are. and -- Jack Kornfield, Pema Chodron and the Shambhala teachers. Vivekananda and Ramakrishna. Oh, too many more. My teacher is Gurumayi Chidvilasananda. Her secretary suggested I do Vipassana, b/c I have a tendency to fly off to the stratosphere with the yoga energy. So that is what I do, and I am usually on the ground!
