A student of Tibetan Buddhism since 1981, I graduated from Harvard University in 1986 with a degree in Sanskrit and Indian Studies. My focus was translating Tibetan and Sanskrit Buddhist literature, and I joined a committee of translators to pursue that vocation. I had planned an academic career, but changed direction and went to law school instead. I now work as a lawyer practicing Elder Law, Trusts and Estates with a small New York firm.
I have a regular daily meditation practice. I also teach the dharma on a volunteer basis, although my teaching activity has been curtailed since the start of the pandemic. I hope to return to teaching as soon as circumstances permit. I have three grown children with whom I keep in close contact.
I believe that dharma practitioners in a relationship should support each other’s practice, as well as enjoying life in each other’s company. In fact, my teacher told me to “enjoy life,†and I have always regarded that as direct instruction. My interests outside of work and practice include music, dining, walking/hiking, and travel.
