About Me
Welcome - thanks for dropping in.
I suspect most people would consider I have a fairly 'alternative' lifestyle - 65 and living in a shared house in a housing coo-op.; not 'settled' at all - just a bit of an old hippy.
T'ai Chi is a big part of my life - much of my work is teaching the health aspect but I love the whole of it. Related to the T'ai Chi is a sitting meditation practise and this has lead me to a secular interest in Buddhism and Taoism and have a sense of 'something' beyond myself. I tend to avoid terms like 'spiritual' if possible – either everything is or nothing.

Other things that mean a lot: I am rarely out of reach of a book or two of various types; music too is an accompaniment to my life – jazz and 'experimental' stuff but also a little folk. rock dance/reggae and so on; and I've had a real thing about Chopin nocturnes recently.

I love to birdwatch – finding that the process of observing and identifying offers a path in to a sense of deep connection with the world around me (there are always birds around!). I do occasionally chase after a rare bird but recently was just as excited by the return of a few House Sparrows to my feeding station.

I have what feels like a personal relationship with my bicycle!

But it's a big world and I'm open to other things coming in to my life.

I am very politically minded and active in a left/green/anarchist type of way and I've realised I could not possibly have any kind of meaningful, intimate relationship with someone leaning to the right – I'm sure you are a genuinely nice person but there would just be too much friction..
When all is said and done I never know why or when that spark of attraction will hit me.
But some things stand out though none are deal breakers, so:

Somebody who has her own space and interests but with enough room to share somewhat. Someone I can share the sounds and the movement and the silences with and hold their hand as the sun sets over the marshes.

Someone who has seen enough of life to have some idea of who she really is.

Someone who likes the idea of a relationship being a journey and exploration rather than a fixed thing - for me there are echoes of that idea in Fromm's 'mature love' idea – perhaps like the Oak and the Cedar in Kahil Gibrans' 'The Prophet'.

I don't wish to define who that might be or how they are too much but rather would like to meet someone who wants to explore - words can only take us so far and the basic ingredient has to be that mysterious attraction that seems to come from nowhere!
So, what's the point of exploring if I've already decided what I will find there!?

If any of that interests you do get in touch. (note though that I'm new to this whole online dating and haven't yet gone so far as to take out a subscription) If not then thank you for your time and move on with my best wishes.
