| About Me
|
|
|
When someone asks me to describe who I am, I usually say that I am a kind, gentle yet powerful man. I am not looking for someone to change for me, to please me. Please be yourself. In my worldview, a relationship only lasts when both persons accept one another the way they are. And if someone feels like changing, it is because they want to do it, not because it is asked. Beside that, I am a highly curious French born, former engineer, now busy exploring mind-body-consciousness & awareness.
I am looking for a kind, gentle, curious and intelligent soul who is interested in mindful explorations.
I am affectionate, loving, and calm person and I am looking for someone to share my life. I see traveling in my future.
I have a colorful (for most) past, having done adventurous sports (skydiving, spelunking, car racing and scuba diving). I am now a pickleball player.
Now retired, my careers went from teaching mathematics at USC to being a scientific programmer at a research laboratory, then moving on to large scale distributed computing and then to developing expertise in information security. My last job was at Stanford University.
I meditate daily, usually play pickleball, meet with friends, work in my backyard and play with my two lovely cats.
I am spiritual, not religious. I studied Tibetan mysticism starting around 12 years of age. Don't ask me why. I just got interested! I now do deep dives in mind subconscious and help people do the same, all for healing from past traumas and to learn to live in the present moment.
And to be fully honest about my present relationship, I have been separated from my wife for a long time and a divorce will be started once she gets her french citizenship, which should be within 2 years, hopefully less.
We realized we were walking different paths.
If you made it that far, thank you for reading and may your life be joyful.

How I spend my free time:
- Being retired, I have lots of free time yet I am always busy. However, I am not rushed.
My free time is spent exercising, meditating, gardening a (now too big) backyard, and doing lots of reading and practicing on mindfulness and, yes, psychedelics, or, as I call them, medicine for the mind.

| Personality
|
|
|
-
My Personality:
-
Quiet, Adventurous, Playful
-
When out with friends, I'm usually:
-
The quiet one
-
What makes me laugh hardest:
-
Young Frankenstein is quite a classic...
-
I'm happiest when:
-
Being close to loved ones. Some are family, others are friends.
-
The things that annoy me are:
-
Greed, willful ignorance, human created chaos, planned inequalities, abuse of all kinds, ...
Fortunately, mindfulness is a great defensive weapon against them.
-
The best day of my life was when:
-
I felt as one with a lover.
-
If I could have dinner with any three people, they would be:
-
Einstein, Feynman, the Dalaï Lama.
All three are quite brainy. Einstein and Feynman were able to discover new methods to explain how Nature appears to work. The Dalaï Lama appears as a very genuinely and naturally happy and kind human being. He is one of the very few religious heads to accept the Sciences, not as an adversary to religious and spiritual thinking, but as an ally to minimize differences in the very diverse way the human brain thinks the natural world really appears to us.

Aerobics, Gym/Weightlifting, Hiking/Backpacking, Running, Yoga (hatha)
-
For fun I like to...
-
Lately, I have been doing a lot of pickleball. I'd like to pick up dancing.
Reading is a favorite as well. I try to stay knowledgeable on the sciences I learned when I was at the university such as high energy physics and how that shaped our universe.
Most days, I meet with friends around noon at a coffee shop and we discuss our worlds.
When I go back to France to visit my brother, I make sure to see all my school friends.
There are many places in the world I'd like to visit, but not alone.
-
My favorite movies:
-
* 2001: A Space Odyssey. First watched when it came out in 1968. Perhaps still the best sci-fi movie ever made. Even had AI in it, now becoming a more and more important concept. This movie was probably the seed which sent me studying astronomy, physics and math.
* One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest
* Lawrence Of Arabia
* Forrest Gump
* Apocalypse Now
* Alien
* and many more ...
-
My favorite music:
-
Classical: Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Vivaldi, Haydn, Chopin, Schubert, ...

Values
|
|
|
-
The virtues I consider most important are...
-
Honesty, Kindness, Courage
-
The things I'm most grateful for in life are...
-
To have been born in a country where democracy was important.
To have had parents who never pushed faith or religion on me.
To have been born insatiably curious
-
My goals, and what I want out of life...
-
If we are born with a purpose, then I'd like to achieve it, whatever it is. One of my life goal is to search for that purpose. The other is to accomplish it. Isn't it what we are all supposed to do?
-
My greatest accomplishments in life have been...
-
My brother and I were raised quite old fashion. We were well taken care of physically. Emotionally, however, that is an entirely different story...
According to my psy, one of my great accomplishments is not to be severely depressed from the lack of personal attention from my parents from the get go.
Another one is that, once I identify a fear, I will meet it, defeat it and make it an ally.
-
Five or ten years from now, I see myself...
-
Five years from now, I see myself even in a better physical and mental shape. And in a loving relationship.
Ten years from now? Hopefully, the same.
-
My political inclination can be described as...
-
Liberal

Spirituality
|
|
|

Spiritual Orientation:
-
Agnostic, Buddhist, Humanist, Spiritual, not religious
-
What brought me to my spiritual path and motivated my interest...
-
I think that spirituality is one of the words which means something totally different for everyone who seeks to define what that is.
To me, spirituality is very closely linked to curiosity: to search and explain what we do not understand.
The first hominids who looked toward the sky one night and wondered "what are those lights in the sky?" were the first spiritual beings on this planet.
-
I consider the purpose of my spirituality to be...
-
Finding happiness and peace within, Belonging to a like-minded community, Helping me grow as a person
-
After the body dies...
-
I don't know, but I'm not worried about it
-
I would define a spiritual experience as...
-
An experience which opens up new ways of thinking.
-
A spiritual experience I would like to share...
-
I experienced a few:
My first was a Kundalini Awakening. I was 9 or 10 years old and that scared the living crap out of me.
I experienced what is known as ego death. I was not afraid and I thought I was dying. My body, however, had a different opinion on that subject. So here I am.
-
The spiritual books and authors that have had the greatest impact on me...
-
"Fading Toward Enlightenment" from Wayne Wirs. This book's writings are as deep as Eckhart Tolle. However, they can be easily understood. Tolle's writings, to me, are more opaque.
