About Me
I’m a retired, grounded and financially savvy man. I value kindness, meaningful connection and quiet joy. Friends describe me as insightful, loving and dependable - someone who listens and cares sincerely. I think companionship should bring peace, warmth, and inspiration to both hearts. Together, I’d like to build a lasting relationship - steady, joyful, and real.

I blend emotional intelligence with introspection and intuitiveness. My heart walks softly in memory land, and mind flows through purpose and meaning in life. I am soulful translator of factual stories from two countries 9,000 miles apart bridging languages, time and love, with a life deeply lived. With tender heart and seeking mind, I turn sorrow into wisdom and love into light.

Yesterday, I might have followed religions and obeyed beliefs and rituals. Today, I kneel to truth, follow only beauty, and obey only love. With that, I am spiritual but not religious. Humanity is the only religion that I belong to, even though I grew up surrounded by four major eastern religions and have exposure to western religions. Buddhism is a way of life - “middle way” originated 2,500+ years ago, which has some influence in my life. Equally important for me is having influence of J. Krishnamurti's (JK) philosophy and spirituality of life.

Many of JK's talks were centered around Sanskrit word “Advaita” (~1000 BCE) – meaning “not-two” or “one without a second”, and in Pali Buddhist term “Advaya” (~500 BCE) means “not two”. The word “Nondualism” was created in the Western world recently in 1997. “Observer and the Observed as One.” I think that JK is an iconoclast - an original thinker. I can talk later about my experiences on Oneness when I visited Redwood National Parks, and while watching Milky Way - galaxy from top of the mountain on Big Island, Hawaii.

I attend weekly Insight Meditation and some of the day-long meditation retreats in Sacramento. I also attended a 4-day residential meditation retreat in Spirit Rock, Woodacre, CA. Meditation matters only when inner transformation occurs and cultivates mind to act towards external phenomena. I can say that because I have been through this transformation since 2011/2012 and continuing.

While I'm pleased with life as it is, I feel that sharing the joy of life with the right woman would be a more full and rich experience. I am aware that aliveness is deeper than happiness. I’m looking for a warm, compassionate woman whose strengths and vulnerabilities complement my own so we can build steady, loving and harmonious relationship together. Someone kind-hearted, open-minded, and ready for a relationship built on trust, humor, and mutual respect. I believe love can grow beautifully - with and beyond romance, at any stage of life when two people bring sincerity, laughter, and gentle care to each other’s days.

Personality
My Personality:
Intelligent, Caring, Playful
When out with friends, I'm usually:
The quiet one
What makes me laugh hardest:
Old TV shows: Seinfeld, Three's Company, Family Ties, many funny Hollywood and Bollywood movies
I'm happiest when:
I sing romantic and deeply meaningful songs, when I read lovely poems, when I see other people enjoying life, when I listen to beautiful music. When I relax in a lounge chair in my garden, "seeing clearly" all different colored-roses, stargazer lilies, daylilies, mini crape myrtle, and azaleas dancing in light breeze, inhaling natural fragrance in air, squirrels running around, butterflies and honeybees jumping from one rose to another, and hummingbird getting its own share of nectar, and birds singing their own songs on magnolia trees.😊
The things that annoy me are:
I turn my annoyance into amusement. I observe during my nature walks when by-passers talk loudly on their cell phones, some bury their face into cell phone not paying attention while walking, likewise some are walking their dogs; I wonder who is walking whom? Only dogs make eye contact with me! I am tempted to ask the dog "where are you walking him/her?"😊
The best day of my life was when:
granddaughter's laughter watching Laurel and Hardy movies and Disney's hilarious cartoons series, her joyful screaming during Manta Ray snorkeling, and her giggling while reading Garfield comics.
Experiencing nature through all senses with open eyes, is meditation for me; watching sunsets in a sky full of colors and relaxing with walks in nature.
If I could have dinner with any three people, they would be:
1. Siddhartha Gautama - called The Buddha for being awaken and having reached to enlightenment. He showed the path during times of inner and outer turmoil, advocating peace, non-violence, and compassion, which so true in today's world.
2. Mahatma M. K. Gandhi who brought independence to India on 15th August 1947; showing the World that freedom from foreign rulers was achieved without violence and with peaceful protest.
3. J. Krishnamurti -JK (1895-1986), "One of the Greatest Thinkers of the Age" as described by not only Dalai Lama but also by many current spiritual leaders, philosophers and professors in humanity and liberal arts; many of them were influenced by him including the poet Kahlil Gibran.

1. 41+ years of a single marriage with my late wife.
2. my hard-earned education.
3. my teachers, mentors, and older siblings for their encouragement in my learnings.
My goals, and what I want out of life...
A warm & loving relationship, life is too short.

"O my friend, in every wound, love hides a cure.
Life, by itself, holds little allure - the thrill, the meaning, lies in love.
There is no real joy in mere living - the joy lies in love.
A single moment is all you're given to live.
And that same moment - is what you're given to drink the poison, too.
So steal a little peace from this fleeting time.

Those who spend their days and nights,
searching for God, from dusk till dawn,
someone should whisper to their wandering hearts:
God resides in love,
not in temples, mosques, or churches, not even in the skies
Yes, someone should tell them gently:
God resides in love."
My greatest accomplishments in life have been...
1. Receiving highest academic education
2. Receiving multiple NIH research grants totaling $1.75 million to decipher human genome
3. Guiding physicians for research grantsmanship for medical issues in cancer patients and survivors
4. Attending to healthcare needs of my late wife by devoting second half of married life.
Five or ten years from now, I see myself...
1. Should have cataract removed from eyes, if necessary.😊
2. Be in a warm, stable, and loving relationship until I merged back into the mighty Universe!
3. From these fleeting moments called living, we must steal the fullness of an age now.
4. What more can I say? The only eternal truth is life's impermanence and transient nature of the world and universe!
My political inclination can be described as...
Liberal
Spirituality
Spiritual Orientation:
Buddhist, Spiritual, not religious
I consider my spirituality...
Very important to me
What brought me to my spiritual path and motivated my interest...
Death of Beloved One.
Buddha's original ancient message for Way of Life - The Middle Way.
J. Krishnamurti's Philosophy and Spirituality of Life.
I consider the purpose of my spirituality to be...
Finding happiness and peace within, Belonging to a like-minded community, Helping me grow as a person
After the body dies...
The soul persists in a spiritual realm
I would define a spiritual experience as...
No words can "define" a spiritual experience. It is self-awareness, self-realization, self-awakening, selflessness, experience of peace and love as a being, - indescribable, immeasurable.
A spiritual experience I would like to share...
There were/are moments - deep, mystic, and meaningful awareness revealing "Formless Self." The first time I had such experience when I was in the middle school -seventh grade, when I was naive to know what it was and unsure to talk to older siblings. Now, I am aware of nonexistence of conventional "I", "Me", and "Mine."
1. This is more about deep thinking than 'experience. I was on the Big Island, Hawaii. From the top of a mountain without telescope, I witnessed the splendid vastness of the Milky Way and beyond. I felt this world, all of us and our experiences as “impermanent” in relation to the Universe as “Permanent”. Even though the Universe is expanding, the grandest structures like stars, galaxies, black holes; arise, transform, and dissolve. Not only life, but the cosmos itself participates in impermanence! 😊
2. While standing in front of a 2000 years old, 365 feet tall redwood tree, this 'I' (71 yr old, 5'11" tall) thought that when these trees were infants, giving out oxygen into the omnipresent air, which was carried through winds on this planet -Earth to where and when Jesus Christ, and later Muhammad (founder of Islam) were breathing the same air!
The spiritual books and authors that have had the greatest impact on me...
