About Me
After living a busy life (fulfilling career as a political scientist, marriage to my best friend, raising a family, outdoor sports interests), I am now living more in the moment, embracing the joys and small miracles that are found in each day. I began practicing Theravada Buddhism at a Portland, Oregon Sangha in 2024 after my wife suddenly died. Practice and sangha have transformed my life.
In addition to daily practice, Sangha events, and retreats, I enjoy walking, hiking, exercising, gardening, the performing arts, travel and learning new things. I am very devoted to my family and friends, enjoy meeting new people, and being in community. I am looking for an active Buddhist woman who laughs easily, has a passion for the Dharma, and has the freedom to play and travel together--someone who would enjoy simple pleasures like hiking, exploring new coffee shops, visiting beautiful gardens, or catching a good film.

Spirituality
Spiritual Orientation:
Buddhist
I consider my spirituality...
The central focus of my life
What brought me to my spiritual path and motivated my interest...
The sudden death of my wife of 46 years upended my life. I was devastated and looking for help in overcoming the anxiety and grief. This led me to Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. That 8 week course transformed my life. I was looking for more and took a course on Buddhist living. That led me to join the Path of Sincerity Sangha in Portland Oregon.
I consider the purpose of my spirituality to be...
Finding happiness and peace within, Helping me cope with the struggles of life, Belonging to a like-minded community
After the body dies...

I would define a spiritual experience as...
One that gets past ego; past identification with concepts, careers, ideologies, hobbies; one that changes how we understand life.
A spiritual experience I would like to share...
