Waking up...together
“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength; while loving someone
deeply gives you courage.” Lao Tzu
I am a woman of complexities: a balance of inner and outer, introspection and outer exuberance and joy. I am deeply devoted to friends and family, and have cultivated the richness of solitude as well as a vital and rich capacity for intimacy and openness.
I know that a sustainable relationship begins with a friendship: enjoying one another’s company, delighting in BEING together, sharing the journey of life in all of its richness.
Here are some of the qualities I embody, and that I am seeking in a partnership…
First and foremost, I am seeking a spiritual connection. That is, each of us has our own deep connection to spirit, Source, God, nature…an inner refuge and sanctuary that we drink from for renewal and inspiration. This is essential, because we each need to be rooted in something eternal and sustaining. Our individual practices may differ, yet a common respect and appreciation and sharing for our practices is necessary..here are some of mine: meditation, wanders in nature, prayer, kirtan, indigenous ceremony, chanting, shamanism, yoga. It is the divine personal inner connection that is vital.
Secondly, we each need to love ourselves, know ourselves, have done deep work on clearing space for new Love to be planted. This is hard work, and I have been actively engaging in this, and value a man who has also done this most challenging of inner work.
This also means finally accepting our essential aloneness, and being comfortable with solitude.
Forgiveness, releasing the past, knowing our shadows (anger, projections) and being able to openly and honestly share our inner lifelong journey: I place a high value on this! Being intimate with spirit and ourselves is the foundation of intimacy with another.
Sacred solitude balanced with sacred intimacy.
All of the above is a lifelong endeavor, and the resulting gifts naturally bring beautiful qualities into every relationship: honesty, integrity, open heartedness, generosity, kindness, compassion, communication, being at ease with oneself and others; the ability to really love another, and to trust. For me, these are the foundational qualities of any partnership or friendship.
My “outer life” is also important and fun! I am very healthy and fit….a conscious lifestyle choice. I want to share activities with my partner: hiking, traveling, seakayaking, exploring, bicycling, skiing/snowshoeing, exploring wild places together. I have been blessed to travel to amazing places in my life: Peru, Costa Rica, Greece, Istanbul, and look forward to many other adventures. I work out several times each week, eat healthy and love to dance (I would love a dance partner!). I am affectionate, passionate, creative…enjoy creating sacred spaces and gardens, bodywork, listening to music. Close family and friends are important to me. I have 2 grown sons who are a vital and important part of my life:being a mother to them continues to be one of the greatest gifts of my life. I have work that I love, and seek a man who- like me- is spiritually oriented, and yet has his feet grounded in the world and is financially rooted.
I know that creating a loving, committed, sustainable, growthful, spiritually grounded partnership is the path I am on, and I am excited to meet the man who is truly available to join me in this beautiful co-creation!
If the above touches you, and you feel a resonance with what I have written, I would enjoy hearing from you with some openness about your own journey.
“What will you do with your one wild and precious life?” Mary Oliver
