About Me
Down to earth, blingless, narcissism free (well, mostly). I like being outside, running, biking, walking, hiking. Other fun things: playing music, poetry readings, intelligent movies, cat's cradle, sliding across wood floors in my socks (I am easily amused).
I'm attracted to kindness, playfulness, humility, quirkiness, intelligence and hiking boots. I'm not really enticed by glamour but if you're smarter than I am - great.
I can't imagine a life without a contemplative practice and I've practiced meditation for a long time. I'm attracted to women who are drawn to their deeper nature (whatever form that takes). And who love a good Thai restaurant. Pretty much in that order. Unless I'm really hungry, in which case I would contemplate green curry.
I started practicing in the Korean Zen tradition and was dedicated to that for about 10 years. For the past 20 some years I've been a student in the Ridhwan school (aka Diamond Approach) and I practice in the Soto Zen tradition with the Ordinary Mind School founded by Joko Beck.
Random factoids: coffee snob, pescetarian (caffeinated obviously), Zen student (kind of like in the monk reserves), card carrying liberal (OK it's a VISA card), uninterested in football (watching), golf, large machines that go fast and shopping (rather be hiking or canoeing or playing bad tennis) and I'm unencumbered by consistency. I like winter (love autumn), small gatherings and times of silence and solitude. Bohemian tendencies but unwilling to relinquish my comfortable life. Certifiably the world's worst downhill skier. I'm really good at catching insects and escorting them out of my house (except for ants but I'm pretty sure they reincarnate really fast...) |
