"Retired Prof seeks romantic love as a cosmic adventure. . . ."
I am a: 78-year-old Man (Divorced)
Located in: Cincinnati, OH (USA)
Seeking a: Woman (20 to 60)
For: Friendship, Dating, Serious Relationship, Marriage
Spirituality: Buddhist, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Spiritual, not religious

About Me
Hi!

I am affectionate and romantic and desire the same in a partner. I want someone who has passions in their life but can be passionate about a relationship, too. I need someone that is able to communicate openly and honestly especially when the times get tough. I heard a line in a romantic comedy that speaks strongly to me: "I'm yearning for a love that is friendship on fire."

I've known such friendships and I've known such fire. And, if you've read everything this far, my suspicion is that this might have a powerful appeal to you as well. . . . So why don't we pursue this together?

====================

Tracy, while searching for a man online, introduced herself saying, "My turnoffs are: dishonesty, cheating, liars, and anyone who believes [in] treating people bad!"

I responded in this fashion: I'm entirely on the same page with you. The fact that you are bringing this forward is a clue that this describes your experience with men that you have known. . . . With you, I detest this way of acting.

Twenty years ago I joined the ManKind Project. Here is what we are about:

The ManKind Project flies in the face of rigid stereotypes about the "Sensitive New Age Man" AND the "Macho Man". We ask men to go right up to the edge - and beyond - in a culture that seems to be comfortable with mediocrity and passivity from men. We ask men to stop living a vicarious adventure through their TV's and step into a real time adventure to win back their passion for life. We ask men to confront the real issues, to get 100% honest about who they are. Some men have a really hard time doing that. Many of us did too, but we took the risk anyway. We're looking for men who want to be powerful Leaders and Role Models. Men willing to step through fear and into the challenge of their lives. Men not afraid to revolt against repressive social norms, take off their masks and break through their personal barriers. Men ready to take real risks and step into their full power. Men not afraid to inhabit ALL the characteristics required of men in changing times; resiliency, integrity, courage, creativity, innovation, adaptability, compassion, empathy, radical self-responsibility, inclusiveness, generosity and respect. Would you be interested in meeting this kind of man? If so, that's what I personally aspire to be.
Peace and joy, FreeSpirit

========================

I have been a religious seeker all my life. I have absorbed into my spirituality much from Catholicism, Judaism, Buddhism, Islam, Native American, Eastern Orthodoxy, atheism. I conducted a pilgrimage around the world for youthful seekers two years in succession. I taught World Religions for ten years. Interfaith experience and inter-denominational dialogue have infused a cosmic dimension within my academic career.

My practice of meditation began during the seven years when I was a Catholic monk. Thus, for all these years I was doing a group meditation in the morning and evening each day. I left the monastery in order to gain academic degrees in religious dogma and practice. I spent a year living as a Quaker in Berkeley. I later spent a year living as a Jew. I was very keen on taking the time to enter and to assimilate various forms of religious practice from the inside out.

My practice of Buddhism was shaped by three week-long zen retreats. Back home, my meditation skills were perfected with daily practice and weekly group meditations. During the two years of the world pilgrimage, I was blown away by the colors, sounds, and smells of Vrajnayana practice in Nepal. This integration of theory and practice impacted upon my teaching style in the classroom. When presenting Buddhism, I dressed and spoke like a monk training my understudies. My goal was to lead my students into a Buddhist way of living and thinking and doing. Once I did this, my course, EXPERIENCING THE WORLD'S RELIGIONS, were filled during the first week of open enrolements. The Dean of Students told me privately that, never, during his 25 years as Dean, did he find an elective course that was filled every time it was offered.

========================

Working in collaboration with a handful of academics from the UK in 2007 to 2014,I pioneered an international online college working to empower women for life and leadership through transformative gender studies. Our inter-disciplinary courses promote gender equity, as well as, international and inter-cultural understanding and respect. We combine the best Information Communications Technology (ICT) with a student-focused pedagogical practice that takes seriously the way authentic, transformative learning occurs. We create small interactively engaged communities where students find the safety and support they need to examine issues that are important to their lives, strengthening their skills and confidence and enhancing their leadership potential for creating positive change in the world. In mid-2014, direction of the college was transferred to a major university in London. This event provided an opportunity to reinvent myself since I would no longer be occupied with running the college fifty hours each week.

Would you be interested in meeting a man who is actively committed to the empowerment of women? If so, that's who I am.

Peace and joy, FreeSpirit

Then I invite friends over and we have great conversations together. At the beach, I chat with visitors, swim laps, and, if the water is just right, I do snorkeling. From time to time, I trim plants in the garden. I water plants during the dry season. Sometimes I do improvisional dancing and compose music on my Native American flute.
